Kate Robinson 's Biography

Kate Robinson Biography

Kate Robinson is an abstract painter whose passion for art started at a young age. During high school she was admitted to the National Art Honor & Society and would get lost in her art. Despite her artistic inclinations, Robinson started her career as a school teacher and then changed fields to spend over 14 years in Healthcare Sales as a business woman. Nevertheless, she remained true to her love for art until she finally returned to her passion and became self-taught in abstract painting. Kate lived in the mountains of Virginia for many years and then relocated to the North Carolina Coast just outside of Wilmington in 2018, where she currently lives.

She works mainly with acrylic, oil or mixed media on canvas or panel and Robinson enjoys using knife work, brushstrokes, and building and blending layers to have texture and depth. Through her art, she wishes to share hope, joy, and growth: “There is always some light, blessing, or reflection in situations. I hope my art inspires emotion which leads to thoughts and brings joy”. Her work has been seen on HGTV and in various juried exhibitions across North Carolina and beyond.

Artist Statement: "My passion for abstract painting started with an interior design focus. Abstract art gives life and unity to a room and a focal point of conversation for the home or office space. My inspiration can start with an emotion, a word or phrase, or just focus on colors I would like in the piece. My joy comes from starting with the beginning layer and seeing the development through the process to a final product that has come so far from where it started. My goal for a client is to the piece that draws them in and can live without. This piece can be the connecting final element or the beginning focal point of inspiration that brings the whole room together."
