Heidi-Lee Peach's Biography
Meet the Designer “converted” to Artist.
It’s funny, I have always been happiest when drawing, painting, designing with color palettes, juxta positioning shapes, creating pleasurable spaces and ultimately eye candy. This started when I was five years old and continued to grow, as I watched my Dad paint his realistic oils. Many were sold, but many I treasure to this day.
The love of art was rooted in me, I was hooked, so I attended MARYLAND COLLEGE OF ART, and after vigorous training in painting and drawing, I graduated with my BFA in Interior Architecture. I knew I had to work and all the drawings back then were done by hand. For over 15 years I made my living as a commercial and residential interior designer, working PA to Northern VA territory. When my husband was transferred, I worked in South FL., Jupiter to Ft. Lauderdale. Interior design went to CAD, so the joy left me, although I enjoyed that chapter of my life. He was transferred with his job again to Raleigh, NC area.
This is when my artist came back to life inside me on a fulltime basis.
I started to paint again, diving deep into watercolors. It brought me so much joy. I took many workshops from masters, improving and getting loose with my strokes and learning the flow. I have now spent 20 plus years working with it, won awards and started to play with other mediums. I love them all if it involves painting. I also enjoy plein air (painting outdoors) painting as well, and have been part of Wrightsville Invitational, Azalea Fest, Southport, organized events and belong to local groups.
In 2020, I opened my own gallery, Heart2Hands Art Gallery & Studios, in downtown Clayton, NC, which is SE of Raleigh. I run the 20-artist coop. My time is shared between Clayton and Carolina Beach, at our second home. We will retire in the Wilmington area.
It brings me great joy to create, be free, and take chances as an artist to show people the visions I see. I love experiment and explore all PAINTS -it makes me happy.
My joy comes from producing cohesive color palettes on different surfaces sometimes using unique tools and brushes to apply it. I am so interested in learning more and more, about surfaces, materials, and how they congeal.
I teach private lessons, watercolor workshops, paint many commissions, and I am always for the challenge to take on new projects and explore the unknown in the world of art.
