Billy Cone 's Biography
Billy Cone Biography
Billy Cone has been a photographer for 43 years. He has had personal exhibitions in Wilmington, Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, and at the Galerie Mark Hachem in Paris. Since his senior year of Business Administration at UNC-Chapel Hill he has painted and drawn images. Ironic that he would keep his axe to the grindstone while his true passions lay dormant underneath the busy-ness! While working at Sutton Place Gourmet in D.C. in 1986 he took nighttime drawing classes at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria in 1987. In 1993, while studying for a second degree in French at UNC-W, 48"x60" Facetures are a signature style.
His passion is with the human face. Billy has studied the face with his camera in photographing statuary and models for his "FEMME" book project since 2002 when he was living in Paris and also working on a book called "Living Statues-Photographies."
"Face to Face" can describe his current show at FINE ART LOCAL.com-200 Willard Street, Wilmington, NC.
Billy loves to paint with the tube and in metalics as well as with clothes and fingers. He is always on the learning curve. Each painting teaches him new techniques. Billy is self-taught. He has published two photo journals and one fine art coffee table book all of which are available for purchase.
Billy's work, as the French would say, is "un coup de foudre," or a "falling in love" and an investment in a consummate artist. He says that his "true love" is the piano. He composes and plays his own music to play for friends and family. His Half&Halfs are already notorious-half a photo and half a marker drawing bring out the best in his repertoire of celebrities. His latest works are colorful marker drawings. Secure your original today.
